Mon. Nov 23rd - We gave Sam 1000
mL of fluids, ½ a
Mirtazapine, one
Prilosec, one magnesium tablet, two
Sucralfate & two
Prednisone.
ECVR faxed the results to us and as we suspected Sam's calcium is back above the normal range at 13.0 The leaking & weakness in his hind legs are signs we have come to
recognize before the results tell the story. Dr.
Stoll called this afternoon & discussed the option of giving Sam another round of the
Pamidronate bisphosphonate. We explained that we started him back on the
Prednisone at lunch once we'd seen the high calcium results. We had hoped to give him 2000
mL of fluids today but he is getting very tired of the fluid process. We used to be able to give him fluids and he would fall asleep while we pet him but now he cries when we stick him with the needle and tries to get up. We can't blame him for not wanting to be stuck with the needle but we are trying to do what we can to help him flush the calcium from his system. It will take a few days for the
Pamidronate bisphosphonate to arrive so we plan to continue with the
Prednisone and do our best with the fluids.
Several of our friends have had very sad news with their pups in the past week. Our hearts go out to them for their loss.
You'll be missed Bailey, Max &
Nala.
