Tues. Nov 10th - The Vet faxed Sam's blood results & his calcium came down to 15.8mg/dL. It came down due to the high volume of IV fluids they are giving him but we are hopful that when they get the
Pamidronate Wednesday it will help to lower his calcium more. Steve visited Sam at lunch but could not get him to eat. His hind legs were very weak. We both visited him at 8pm this evening and notice even more weakness in his legs. He seems to do better once he starts to walk but when he first gets up he has trouble. When we weren't able to get him to eat, we asked the Vet tech if they were giving his the Mirtazapine appetite stimulant, he wasn't sure. The ER folks take over for the ECVR folks after 5pm so we plan to call back Wed. & talk to Dr. Stoll about his appetite stimulant.
Sam recognizes a routine quick and knew we were only there to visit. It is sad because once he realizes we aren't taking him home he seems depressed. We know he must be so tired of being sick and doesn't rest well with all of the other sick dogs barking & crying around him.
Hang in there SamDog we are trying to do what is best for you!
