Aug 27th 2009 - took Sam back to Dr. Thompson again and insisted on an Ultrasound to look for signs of Degenerative Myelopathy. Eagle Mobile Veterinary Services was used for the Ultrasound. The Ultrasound technician found enlarged iliac lymph nodes and took a needle aspiration biopsy of these lymph nodes. Dr. Thompson did a rectal exam and found a tumor in Sam's right anal sac. She quickly stated that the tumor wasn't there in May and suggested we go to Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral (ECVR) Animal Hospital for a surgeon to determine surgery options.
Great - we'd been telling her something was wrong & she had the blood work telling her the same thing but she'd blamed all his symptoms on old age - turns out it was cancer! Very disappointed in her thoroughness and willingness to be proactive for Sam's health.
