Mon. Dec 7th - We gave Sam 1000 mL of fluids, ½ a Mirtazapine, one Prilosec, three magnesium tablets, two Sucralfate & two Prednisone. Steve took Sam to ECVR for his weekly blood tests & his calcium came back at 10.8mg/dL. We were pleasantly surprised. His platelets were low at 131k/µL, normal is 175-500 k/µL. We plan to discuss this with Dr. Stoll along with a few other numbers that are concerning us. He is still eating well and no signs of diarrhea. We've been keeping him a modified cage area in the den so we can watch him on our webcam when we are away from home. The ability to watch him gives us peace of mind.
After several days of no issues with the fluids he started to get restless again tonight. A whole liter at one time can't feel good but he is a very patient dog.
The weather has been so grey and rainy lately we thought we'd include an older photo from the spring of '06 when Sam was enjoying some time outside.
