Dr. Stoll call - magnesium good / BUN high

Tues. Jan 26th - We gave Sam 1000 mL of fluids, one Prilosec, one magnesium tablet, two Prednisone, & 12 Tramadol. Dr. Stoll called today with Sam's magnesium results from yesterday which were 1.6 mEq/L. She is happy with that number & said we could stop the daily magnesium until his next bisphosphonate treatment. She is concerned about his BUN levels which were 67mg/dL, normal is 7-27 mg/dL. We've discussed these levels being high before & she had mentioned two possible causes:
1-bleeding in his upper GI tract
We've worried about this but mostly when he was taking chemo
2-his high protein diet & Prednisone Rx.
We have been giving him Taste of the Wild kibble lately which is high protein. We'd read that we may be able to help slow the cancer growth with a low carb/high protein diet but his liver may not be up to the task of processing all that protein. We plan to lower his amount of the wild kibble and add in more Moo kibble. He has been extra hungry lately & Moo's kibble has more filler.
Moo & Sam enjoyed a game of tug at lunch and both had a bit-o-spunk.
