ALKP/ALT high due to Prednisone

Thurs. Feb 11th - We gave Sam 1000 mL of fluids, one Prilosec, two Prednisone, & 8 Tramadol. Sam's Magnesium numbers came back good today at 1.8mEq/L, normal is 1.5-2.5. I talked with Dr. Stoll today & she attributed the majority of Sam's non-normal blood results to his Prednisone. She said the ALKP isn't as alarming to her as the ALT, which is more indicative of cell damage in the liver. His TBIL levels would show if bile was an issue in his liver, and they are normal. Although some of his numbers could be attributed to poor liver function, Sam is not exhibiting any outward signs. She mentioned the option of a biopsy of his liver, but we discussed that we probably wouldn't change our course of treatment. So, until we see more blood results or clinical signs of a change, the plan is to monitor him and enjoy our time. The frisbee photos are frequent but the pups really are enjoying their games of tug.
