Changes today

Wed. Dec 9th - We gave Sam 1000 mL of fluids, ½ a Mirtazapine, one Prilosec, two magnesium tablets, two Sucralfate & two Prednisone. During the night Tuesday, Sam had diarrhea, was restless & panting a lot. He ate good today but seemed very tired and his back legs, esp. his back right leg, were very weak. He had more diarrhea at lunch and this evening. I called ECVR and asked if Dr. Stoll thought we should bring him in for x-rays on Thursday. We are worried that the cancer has spread to his lungs & may be be causing him to have trouble breathing. He goes for long periods of time with normal breathing but does randomly pant for 10-20 minutes. Dawn at ECVR called back & said Dr. Stoll was in emergency surgery but that she would relay our concerns. She explained that unless there were large growths in his lungs they probably wouldn't show up on x-rays. We agreed to monitor him over nights & let them know if we were bringing him in first thing Thursday morning. Even if the x-rays won't show anything we'd feel better if Dr. Stoll took a look at Sam before her weekend away. Seems he always hits a rough patch when she is out of town. Dr. Williams is on duty when she is gone but she knows us and Sam much better. Fingers crossed he can at least rest through the night.
