Tues. Nov 17th - We gave Sam 500 mL of fluids, ½ a Mirtazapine, one Prilosec & two 250mg magnesium tablets. ECVR faxed Sam's results this morning - his Calcium is already going back up & was at 11.8mg/dL today. We had hoped the Pamidronate bisphosphonate drug would keep his calcium down longer, especially considering how long he had to stay in the hospital and the reaction of his other mineral levels. I talked with Dr. Stoll about these results and asked for a Rx of Prednisone to have in case the calcium continues to go up. She wasn't as discouraged as we were by today's calcium number. She said we could lower the amount of magnesium to one tablet a day & that they want him back Thursday for another blood draw.
Sam slept with us all night and based on the amount of kicking we felt he slept very hard. He ate well and seems to be getting a taste for yogurt & chicken. Sam and Mushka enjoyed a game of tug at lunch today. As you can see from the video below he has strength in his legs when his calcium levels are normal. Just hoping that will last at least a few more days.
