Sam home from the hospital

Mon. Nov 16th - ECVR called today with Sam's results. They are Calcium = 10.3mg/dL, Phosphorus = 3.0mg/dL, and Potassium = 4.8 mmol/L. ECVR doesn't have pick up on Sundays for the Magnesium test so we won't know that # until Tuesday. Turns out his magnesium that came back on Sunday from Saturday's blood draw was 1.8mEq/L - within the normal range of 1.5-2.5mEq/L. The Vet Tech on Sunday gave us the wrong results. His Creatinine level is still in the normal range at 1.3mg/dL. His RBC, HCT & HGB levels are all lower than the normal which concerns us but we want to discuss these with Dr. Stoll when she returns on Tuesday.
They called back later in the day to tell us Sam could come home today so we went at 4:30pm to pick him up. They explained that he still is having diarrhea and recommended we try plain yogurt. We had an old ER bill to pay but ECVR said we should wait for Dr. Stoll's return to settle our bill with them. They want to see him back Tuesday for another blood draw & they gave us oral magnesium pills to continue at home along with his daily Mirtazapine appetite stimulant & Prilosec.
Sam dog was thrilled to leave the Vet hospital and enjoyed the ride home. Even Mushka seemed excited to see Sam arrive home. He ate some chicken & yogurt for dinner and then enjoyed a bath followed by a long nap wrapped in warm towels.
It is so good to have him home!
